This acquisition preserves FirstCare’s proven onsite model while connecting injured workers to Carisk’s broader clinical capabilities when more complex care is needed.
TAMPA, FL — September 24, 2026 — Carisk Partners, a leading specialty risk transfer, care coordination, and clinical services company serving the workers’ compensation market, announces the acquisition of FirstCare Onsite, a leading provider of onsite occupational healthcare services.
Together, the companies will connect care from the point of injury through recovery – combining FirstCare’s proven onsite model with Carisk’s broader clinical capabilities.
The acquisition expands Carisk’s clinical model further upstream, creating an opportunity to engage an injured worker at the worksite and, when additional care is needed, provide a connected path into specialty and complex care.
At the center is a commitment to preserve what makes FirstCare’s model effective. By placing qualified clinicians directly at the worksite, FirstCare evaluates and treats injuries when and where they occur. FirstCare has historically resolved roughly 30% of workplace injuries without the incident developing into a workers’ compensation claim.
That philosophy will be supported and scaled under Carisk’s ownership.
When an injury can be appropriately evaluated and treated onsite, FirstCare will continue to provide that care. When an injury requires a higher level of intervention, Carisk can provide a direct connection to specialty care, complex care management, behavioral health, and other clinical services that may be needed to support recovery.
“FirstCare was built around the belief that the best workers’ compensation claim is often the one that can be appropriately treated before it ever needs to become a claim,” says Nadeem Mir, Founder and Clinical Director at FirstCare.
Mir adds, “That philosophy is fundamental to who we are, and it will remain. What does change is what happens when an injury is more serious. With Carisk behind us, our clinicians now have access to a broader set of resources to help ensure those injured workers receive the right care as quickly as possible.”
FirstCare provides employers with onsite clinical professionals who evaluate and treat workplace injuries, deliver triage and occupational health services, and help employees receive the right care. This improves access to care, reduces unnecessary emergency department and offsite medical utilization, and minimizes time away from work.
For Carisk, the acquisition creates a more direct connection to the earliest point in an injured worker’s experience.
“The greatest opportunity is to create continuity from the moment an injury occurs,” says Nathan Scoggin, President and Chief Product and Strategy Officer at Carisk Partners. “Connecting FirstCare’s onsite capabilities with Carisk’s broader clinical platform can reduce delays, eliminate fragmented handoffs, and help injured workers reach the right level of care sooner.”
This acquisition creates a more complete clinical continuum and closes the gap between onsite treatment and complex care.
For Dr. Alana Letourneau, Chief Clinical Strategy Officer at Carisk Partners, maintaining this clinical distinction is key.
“If an injured worker can be appropriately evaluated, treated, and returned to work through FirstCare’s onsite model, we want that to continue,” says Dr. Letourneau. “When the clinical facts tell us an injured worker needs more sophisticated intervention, we can now create an immediate bridge into Carisk’s broader clinical resources, addressing critical medical, behavioral health, and social needs.
This continuity can be particularly important in complex cases, where early clinical decisions can have a significant impact on recovery.”
The acquisition advances Carisk’s strategy of building an increasingly connected clinical organization capable of supporting an injured worker from the moment an injury occurs through treatment, recovery, and return to work.
FirstCare’s onsite capabilities complement Carisk’s existing expertise in complex care management, behavioral health, and specialty healthcare services. The acquisition also creates opportunities to expand onsite healthcare programs among large employers and organizations with concentrated workforces – especially in industries where timely clinical intervention can make a meaningful difference in employee outcomes and workers’ compensation costs.
“If an injury can be appropriately handled onsite, FirstCare handles it. If it needs more, Carisk is there,” adds Scoggin. “In either case, the objective is the same: Get the employee the right care, at the right time, in the right setting, and help them return to health and work as quickly and safely as possible.”
Following the transaction, Carisk intends to invest in the continued growth of FirstCare’s onsite model and provide access to Carisk’s clinical resources, technology, data capabilities, and national relationships.
